Once feared as one of the most dangerous men in his country, Carlos Mendez now leads a network of over 100 churches and a rehabilitation ministry that has transformed thousands of lives.
His story begins in the slums of a major Latin American city, where poverty and violence were the only realities he knew. By age 19, he was running a significant criminal operation. By 30, he had blood on his hands and a bounty on his head.

"I felt a presence I cannot describe. Not frightening — overwhelming love. I wept for three hours."
Within months, Carlos had surrendered himself to authorities, cooperated with investigations, and begun a new life. Today, his ministry operates across six countries, with a particular focus on reaching young men trapped in the same cycles that once defined him.
"Every person I reach, I see myself," he says. "And I see what God can do."
